SUSTAINABILITY AS AN ENTREPRENEURIAL ATTITUDE.

Sustainability is not a buzzword for A2S. Values such as authenticity, origin and sustainability have been firmly anchored in the corporate strategy since the very beginning. They are the cornerstone that the company's founder Adam Stegner laid over 80 years ago with the establishment of a sawmill.

This entrepreneurial attitude is also embodied in the third generation of the family business. In the past 80 years, we have developed many new materials, such as the almost indestructible PAGHOLZ® from native beech trees.

We see every new day as an opportunity to improve and develop further.

This is exactly why we are committed to treating nature and the environment with care by:

  • Eliminating tropical woods
  • Avoiding substances containing solvents
  • Staying well below the legal emission limits
  • Manufacturing with low dust and noise levels
  • Reducing packaging and dispoing of it efficiently

The "Golden M"

Our furniture bears the "Golden M", which is awarded by the Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Möbel e.V. (DGM).

The sign stands for tested quality, guaranteed safety and healthy living and is therefore only awarded to furniture that has been put through its paces. When purchasing our furniture, you can be sure that it is well made, durable, safe and stable, and that it does not contain any ingredients that could cause illness or harm.

ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

The ISO 9001 standard is the most important and significant standard in quality management (QM). The EN ISO 9001 regulates the requirements of a quality management system (QMS) in quality management. An essential purpose of the ISO 9001 standard is a statement about the quality of the products in a company.

The international standard ISO 14001 is the world's most important specification of what "environmental management" should consist of and achieve in companies and other organizations. In Germany, more than 4,000 companies and organizations are currently certified according to the ISO 14001 standard.

GS - for tested safety

The GS mark indicates that the safety and health of the user are not endangered during the intended or foreseeable use of the marked product.

The GS mark is a voluntary mark, where the manufacturer or authorized representative chooses to apply for the GS mark to be awarded.

Wood from certified cultivation

FSC® stands for "Forest Stewardship Council®" and is an international certification system for forest management. Ten globally valid principles guarantee that wood and paper products with the FSC seal originate from responsibly managed forests. These principles are laid down in an international standard.

The FSC standard stipulates that the ecological functions of a forest must be preserved, it protects animal and plant species threatened with extinction and safeguards the rights of indigenous peoples and workers. However, the idea that an FSC-certified forest is completely untouched nature is not true. It is a forest that is managed, but under strict principles and criteria that can preserve the forest as an ecosystem in the long term.

FEMB LEVEL

LEVEL certification was developed by the European Office Furniture Federation (FEMB). LEVEL is a comprehensive sustainability standard for office and contract furniture. In addition to the product to be certified, the production site and the organization are also considered. The four impact areas of material, energy and atmosphere, health of people and ecosystem as well as social responsibility are taken into account. In all impact areas, minimum requirements must first be met for certification; only then can additional points be collected for classification in a certification level. The highest achievable rank is LEVEL 3. ASS was able to achieve the highest rank (LEVEL 3) in a total of 5 product groups. The certified ASS products can be viewed on this website.
